What is the Bernard Lo, MD Award in Bioethics?

The Bernard Lo, MD Award in Bioethics (Lo Award) is a $25,000 prize given annually to recognize significant contributions to bioethics. This Award honors Dr. Lo’s service to The Greenwall Foundation as its President & CEO (2012-2020) and founding Director of the Faculty Scholars Program.

The Lo Award recognizes one area of accomplishment in bioethics each year. The inaugural award in 2022 was presented for excellence in bioethics mentorship, and the 2023 Lo Award will be presented for forging connections across division through bioethics.

The Lo Award Committee, a multidisciplinary group of leaders committed to anchoring the Award in Dr. Lo’s approach and values, provides direction for the Award and selects its recipient. The Foundation encourages nominees from academic, non-profit, government, industry, and other sectors.

Questions about the Lo Award should be directed to Kyle Ruempler at kruempler@greenwall.org.
